It isn’t difficult to hire a handyman or any home improvement professional safely and quickly when you use a reputable locator service.
Since you are on this website, chances are fairly good that you may be looking for a professional handyman. But, it’s important to know whether your project may require a contractor instead of a handyman, before spending a lot of time talking to different pros. I wrote an article that addresses the differences between handymen and contractors you may want to read.
While that is true, I was actually a contractor for them when they were called Service Magic. Service Magic, for one reason or another, changed their name from Service Magic to HomeAdvisor. At any rate, they still qualify their contractors and screen them for things like certifications and insurance and stuff like that. You can still get matched to screened and approved professionals with Home Advisor in the very same way as always.
HomeAdvisor is a free service to homeowners, where they can search for professionals nationwide. They have over 80,000 contractors in their network that can be matched to these homeowners, from remodeling contractors to architects to plumbers, and much, much more.
Homeowners can be matched up to 4 professionals for each of their projects, for free! You can have HomeAdvisor perfectly match you to a pro. And, when you’re matched to pros right in your own area, you can review other customer’s comments, and pick who is right for you.
The professional uses HomeAdvisor as a means of advertising, like a newspaper ad or television ad, but actually better, because only interested homeowners are wanting to use their services. Everybody wins.
Want to get started right away? Just fill out the simple and easy form at HomeAdvisor’s website and get qualified contractors to contact you, usually within 24 hours, or whenever you decide schedule it. So…
When you hire a home improvement professional, get at least 3 bids, unless the project is a complete no-brainer.
Either way, you still want to hire someone who knows what they’re doing. Make sure the pro you hire has some sort of track record. They should be insured, as well. When I first started out in my own handyman business, I was a ServiceMagic (HomeAdvisor) approved contractor. They helped me find customers and many became loyal through the years. My experience was always top-notch. From my perspective, HomeAdvisor is a great homeowner’s source for finding a local pro.
